By the time it was discontinued (1990), it was considered to be the longest-manufactured commercial truck in North America. In 1961, Ford Motor Company introduced a version of the C-Series which marked its foray into the Class 8 COE (cab over engine) market.

I kinda got ahead of the thread--Welcome to FTE! The issue with the C series is the shift linkage: A shaft with U-joints and a lot of "wiggle room". I always double clutched downshifts, but that was decades ago on a T98 and unknown rental trucks.
